Jagmeet Grewal, a truck driver involved in a fiery 2019 crash in Laval that killed four people and injured several others, was found guilty on all eight criminal charges, including criminal negligence causing death and injury. The court determined Grewal’s truck was traveling at high speeds (93–100 km/h) and failed to brake or react to stopped traffic, leading to the devastating crash. Evidence, including video footage, showed no attempt to brake or avoid the collision, supporting witness testimonies.
The judge also revealed that Grewal was declared unfit to drive professionally years earlier due to physical and psychological conditions, including a concealed Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. Despite losing his license permanently in 2014 after a fatal crash in Illinois, Grewal allegedly lied to obtain a new one.
